Dare to try, one of the mainstay sentences from an alumnus of the Aquaculture Study Program at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), namely Brilian Amanat Taqwa, S.Pi. Some time ago Brillian was officially contracted by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) of the Republic of Indonesia to carry out a cooperation program.
Brilliant when competing with the UMM Aquaculture research team Ahang Pimnas (2023).
Brillian said that he was one of those who passed the Infrastructure Improvement for Shrimp Aquaculture Project (IIFSAP) program. This program is a collaboration between Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) and the Asian Development Bank with the aim of increasing productivity, quality, profitability and environmental sustainability of shrimp cultivation by small farmers.
Brillian entered the IIFSAP team. KKP collaboration program with the Asian Development Bank.
Brillian said he had received a four-year contract from December 2023 to May 2027. Brillian was placed in Lampung Province as a facilitator who will help local cultivators. The stages of acceptance into the program start from administrative selection, interviews, and passing for debriefing.
It is something that Brillian is grateful for being an alumni of the UMM Aquaculture Study Program. During his college years, Brillian took part in many programs and competitions such as MSIB Merdeka Campus, Pimnas, PKM, CoE Shrimp Professional Class, and many more. Apart from that, he actively helps as a UMM Fisheries Laboratory Assistant and the Indonesian Fisheries Student Association (Himaperikani) in 2021-2023. With his busy schedule, Brillian was still able to graduate on time with an almost perfect GPA of 3.98.
Talking about his current job, Brillian admitted that he has benefited a lot from his lecture knowledge. There are several courses that he thinks are linear with what he sees in the field. Brillian said this confidently after seeing the training provided by the organizers, which according to him was exactly the same as what he had received during college.
"So almost all of the courses are very helpful, but the most specific one for my current job is because in cultivating vaname shrimp, there are basic aquaculture, water quality management, nutrition and feed management, then disease management. Five it seems.” Bright Brillian, this young man from Banyumas.
Apart from that, the practical provisions he received during the UMM Professional Shrimp Aquaculture Class at PT. Suri Tani Pemuka was very helpful. What he will do on the field will not be much different. Because according to Brillian, he used to follow all stages of the process from when the vannamei shrimp were still seeded to harvest. During this process, we also learned a lot from experts about how to overcome problems that arise in the field.
"During college we have to learn and practice, don't be afraid to try new things and don't give up easily. In trying, you cannot be separated from the knowledge provided by lecturers and the blessing of parents. "To achieve what we want is not instant, we have to go through a process and always be consistent in achieving it." Brilliant message to readers.
