Prodi Akuakultur-Perikanan UMM Workshop Siswa SMKN 1 Suboh, Manajemen Kualitas Air dan Pakan Ikan
Siswa SMK Negeri 1 Suboh, Situbondo, antusias mengikuti workshop yang diadakan Prodi Akuakultur-Perikanan Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), 19 Oktober 2024 lalu. Workshop tersebut dijelaskan Kaprodi Akuakultur UMM, Dr. Hanny Handajani, S.Pi, M.Si, dimana sebanyak 30 siswa kelas XII Jurusan Agribisnis Perikanan Air Payau dan Laut SMK Negeri 1 Suboh, Kabupaten Situbondo, mendapatkan wawasan sekaligus pelatihan tentang Penguatan Manajemen Kualitas Air dan Pakan di Hatchery Ikan Kerapu. Workshop ini dilaksanakan di hatchery milik CV. RBS, Kecamatan Bletok, bertujuan memperkuat pengetahuan dan keterampilan para siswa dalam bidang budidaya perikanan, khususnya hatchery ikan kerapu. Workshop ini juga menjadi bagian dari persiapan siswa menghadapi Uji Kompetensi Keahlian (UKK) yang akan datang. Kata Hanny workshop dipandu dua dosen dari Prodi Akuakultur, Fakultas Perikanan UMM, Dony Prasetyo, S.Pi, M.Si menyampaikan materi mengenai manajemen kualitas air, serta Ganjar Adhywirawan Sutarjo, S.Pi, MP, menjelaskan materi tentang manajemen pakan. Keduanya memberikan paparan komprehensif mengenai pentingnya menjaga kualitas air serta pemberian pakan yang tepat guna meningkatkan produktivitas dan kesehatan ikan kerapu di hatchery. Kegiatan ini mendapat dukungan penuh pengarah acara, Guru Penggerak Bapak Nurul Watoni dan Ketua Jurusan Agribisnis Perikanan Air Payau dan Laut, Ibu Ery Saptarin. Sementara itu, Dosen Prodi Akuakultur UMM, Dony Prasetyo menjelaskan bahwa kualitas air adalah faktor krusial yang mempengaruhi pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup ikan. Sangat penting menjaga parameter-parameter seperti oksigen terlarut, suhu, dan pH agar tetap stabil. “Manajemen kualitas air yang tepat akan menentukan kesuksesan budidaya. Dengan pemahaman yang benar, hatchery ikan kerapu di Situbondo dapat semakin maju,” ujar Donny. Selanjutnya Donny memandu praktikum siswa SMKN 1 Suboh langsung di hatchery tentang siswa belajar cara mengukur dan memonitor kualitas air. Di tempat sama, Dosen Prodi Akuakultur UMM, Ganjar Adhywirawan membahas strategi pemberian pakan yang efisien dan berkelanjutan. Bahwa pemilihan pakan yang tepat tidak hanya mempengaruhi pertumbuhan ikan, tetapi juga efisiensi biaya operasional di hatchery. Selain itu, siswa diberikan wawasan tentang komposisi pakan, teknik pemberian yang optimal, serta dampaknya terhadap kualitas air dalam jangka panjang. Para siswa diajak mencoba merancang jadwal pemberian pakan yang sesuai dengan fase pertumbuhan ikan kerapu. Guru Penggerak SMKN 1 Suboh, Bapak Nurul Watoni, memberikan motivasi agar siswa untuk terus belajar dan mengasah keterampilan mereka. Sebab masa depan perikanan ada di tangan generasi muda. Manfaatkan kesempatan ini untuk menjadi ahli di bidang yang ditekuninya dan terus berinovasi. Dunia perikanan membutuhkan tenaga-tenaga ahli yang siap membangun sektor ini, terutama di wilayah Situbondo kaya potensi perikanan. Sekedar diketahui, terkait dengan ini siswa SMK maupun SMA, harus menggunakan kesempatan menimba ilmu dan keterampilan sebagai modal penting untuk menghadapi tantangan di masa depan. Menimba pengetahuan dan mengasah kemampuan di bidang perikanan dapat memilih Prodi Akuakultur-Perikanan UMM yang memiliki keunggulan di bidang tersebut. Diantara Center of Exellencet (CoE) kelas professional udang dan kelas professional Koi, yang ditunjang fasilitas lengkap dan didukung berbagai mitra industry. Workshop Seru Bahas Manajemen Kualitas Air dan Pakan di Hatchery Kerapu, Siswa SMK N 1 Suboh Siap Hadapi UKK! Situbondo, 19 Oktober 2024 – Gimana rasanya jadi siswa SMK yang punya kesempatan langsung belajar dari dosen universitas ternama? Keren banget, kan? Inilah yang dirasakan siswa kelas 12 Jurusan Agribisnis Perikanan Air Payau dan Laut, SMK N 1 Suboh, Kabupaten Situbondo, yang kemarin ikut workshop bertajuk “Manajemen Kualitas Air dan Manajemen Pakan pada Hatchery Ikan Kerapu.” Acara ini berlangsung di hatchery milik CV. RBS, Kecamatan Bletok, Situbondo, dan diisi oleh para ahli dari Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). Yang bikin acara ini makin seru, materinya langsung dibawakan oleh dua dosen kece, Dony Prasetyo S.Pi M.Si untuk materi manajemen kualitas air, dan Ganjar Adhywirawan Sutarjo S.Pi MP. untuk materi manajemen pakan. Bapak Nurul Watoni, guru penggerak SMK N 1 Suboh, bersama Ketua Jurusan Ibu Ery Saptarin juga mendampingi para siswa selama acara. Nah, workshop ini digelar khusus buat persiapan Uji Kompetensi Keahlian (UKK), jadi siswa bener-bener dibekali ilmu langsung dari sumbernya! Di sesi pertama, Pak Dony kasih banyak ilmu soal pentingnya menjaga kualitas air di hatchery. Jangan salah, buat budidaya ikan kerapu, kualitas air itu ibarat nyawa! Mulai dari kadar oksigen, suhu, sampai pH air semuanya harus diperhatikan. “Kalau kalian ngerti cara ngatur kualitas air dengan benar, budidaya ikan kalian bakal lebih sukses dan hasilnya pun lebih maksimal,” kata Pak Dony. Siswa nggak cuma dapat teori, tapi juga diajak praktik langsung cara ngecek kualitas air di hatchery. Keren banget! Nggak kalah menarik, di sesi kedua, Pak Ganjar ngajarin strategi manajemen pakan yang nggak kalah penting. Ternyata, salah pilih pakan bisa bikin boros biaya dan malah merusak kualitas air. “Pakan yang pas bikin ikan cepat tumbuh dan nggak bikin hatchery kalian rugi. Ingat, efisiensi itu kunci!” jelas Pak Ganjar. Para siswa pun diajak buat bikin jadwal pemberian pakan yang pas sesuai siklus pertumbuhan ikan. Dengan ilmu ini, mereka jadi makin siap untuk terjun langsung ke dunia kerja. Setelah dua sesi penuh ilmu, acara ditutup dengan pesan semangat dari para pemateri dan guru. “Kalian ini calon-calon ahli perikanan masa depan. Manfaatkan semua kesempatan belajar, karena industri perikanan di Situbondo dan Indonesia butuh kalian untuk terus maju!” kata Pak Nurul Watoni dengan penuh optimisme. Mahasiswa Akuakultur UMM Ciptakan Inovasi Baru untuk Atasi Penyakit Udang
Malang, 31 Agustus 2024 — Mahasiswa Program Studi Akuakultur Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) berhasil menciptakan inovasi baru dalam upaya mengatasi penyakit pada udang yang selama ini menjadi momok bagi para petambak. Inovasi tersebut memanfaatkan bakteriofag, virus yang mampu menginfeksi dan menghancurkan bakteri penyebab penyakit, sebagai alternatif solusi pengobatan yang ramah lingkungan dan efektif. Inovasi ini berhasil lolos dan akan mewakili UMM dalam ajang bergengsi Pekan Ilmiah Mahasiswa Nasional (PIMNAS) ke-37. Tim yang beranggotakan lima mahasiswa ini, yakni Muhammad Zhafif Addimaysqi, August Yudistira Abimanyu, Alif Ahmad Haidar, Rizki Aulia, Yamisa Febrianingsih, melakukan penelitian selama enam bulan dengan bimbingan dosen pembimbing Soni Andriawan, S.Pi., M.P., M.Sc. Mereka mengembangkan Freeze-dried bacteriophage yang spesifik untuk melawan bakteri Vibrio alginolyticus, penyebab utama penyakit vibriosis pada udang. Penyakit ini dikenal sangat merugikan karena dapat menyebabkan kematian massal pada udang dan menimbulkan kerugian ekonomi yang besar bagi petambak. Menurut Muhammad Zhafif Addimaysqi, ketua tim, penggunaan bakteriofag sebagai agen pengendali penyakit udang merupakan solusi yang lebih aman dibandingkan dengan penggunaan antibiotik. “Selama ini, penggunaan antibiotik secara berlebihan menyebabkan resistensi pada bakteri dan mencemari lingkungan perairan. Dengan bakteriofag, kita bisa lebih selektif dalam menargetkan bakteri patogen tanpa merusak ekosistem,” jelasnya. Inovasi ini mendapat sambutan positif dari para juri dan dinilai sebagai salah satu terobosan penting di bidang akuakultur. Penggunaan bakteriofag sebagai agen biologis dalam pengendalian penyakit pada udang tidak hanya berpotensi mengurangi ketergantungan pada antibiotik, tetapi juga dapat diterapkan secara luas di industri perikanan. Soni Andriawan, S.Pi., M.P., M.Sc, dosen pembimbing tim, menyatakan kebanggaannya atas prestasi yang diraih para mahasiswa. “Ini merupakan bukti bahwa mahasiswa kita mampu menghasilkan penelitian yang berkualitas dan memiliki dampak nyata bagi masyarakat. Kami berharap inovasi ini dapat dikembangkan lebih lanjut hingga dapat diimplementasikan secara luas di lapangan,” ujarnya. Dengan lolosnya inovasi ini ke ajang PIMNAS 37, tim berharap dapat membawa nama baik UMM di kancah nasional dan memberikan kontribusi nyata bagi pengembangan teknologi akuakultur yang berkelanjutan di Indonesia. Ajang PIMNAS 37 yang akan diselenggarakan di Universitas Airlangga, Surabata, pada Oktober mendatang, akan menjadi panggung pembuktian bagi inovasi anak bangsa dalam berbagai bidang ilmu.
Mahasiswa UMM Ciptakan Inovasi Baru untuk Awetkan Ikan Tuna, Lolos PIMNAS 37
Malang, 31 Agustus 2024 — Sebuah tim mahasiswa dari Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) berhasil meraih prestasi membanggakan dengan lolos ke Pekan Ilmiah Mahasiswa Nasional (PIMNAS) ke-37 tahun 2024. Tim yang terdiri dari Ibnu Hafid, Abida Zahrotul Hartinia, Dyas Nurhidayah Putri, Byarna Ayu Apriliani, dan Dinda Putri Ayuningtyas, berhasil mengembangkan inovasi “Edible Coating Bacteriocin” yang dapat memperpanjang masa simpan filet skipjack tuna. Kolaborasi antara mahasiswa Prodi Teknologi Pangan dan Akuakultur ini menghasilkan solusi inovatif dalam bidang teknologi pangan. Melalui penelitian intensif, mereka berhasil mengisolasi zat antimikroba alami (bacteriocin) dari bakteri usus udang vanamei dan mengaplikasikannya dalam bentuk lapisan tipis (edible coating) pada permukaan filet ikan. Lapisan ini berfungsi sebagai penghalang alami yang efektif menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri penyebab pembusukan, sehingga kualitas dan keamanan pangan produk perikanan dapat ditingkatkan. “Kami sangat bersyukur atas pencapaian ini,” ujar Abida Zahrotul Hartinia, Mahasiswa Akuuakultur. “Kolaborasi yang baik antara anggota tim menjadi kunci keberhasilan kami. Harapan kami, inovasi ini dapat memberikan manfaat bagi masyarakat luas, khususnya nelayan dan pelaku usaha perikanan.” Soni Adriawan, dosen pembimbing, turut menyampaikan rasa bangga. “Prestasi ini membuktikan bahwa mahasiswa UMM memiliki potensi yang sangat besar dalam menghasilkan karya-karya inovatif. Mereka telah menunjukkan dedikasi dan kemampuan yang luar biasa dalam mengembangkan penelitian ini.” Dengan inovasi ini, tim mahasiswa UMM tidak hanya berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan kualitas produk perikanan Indonesia, tetapi juga membuka peluang baru dalam pengembangan teknologi pangan yang lebih berkelanjutan dan ramah lingkungan
