Ahmad Faturokhim, an alumni of the Aquaculture Study Program, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), became an inspiration for new students. How come? Because Faturokhim since entering the UMM aquaculture study program has been pursuing a shrimp pond business that is managed with his family. As soon as he graduated in 2022, Faturahim immediately started the vannamei shrimp farming business that he managed in Wonocoyo Village, Pelvic District, Trenggalek Regency, achieving a turnover of up to IDR 400 million a year. The assumption is that once harvested per three months the turnover is around IDR 100 million.
Faturokhim's turnover was obtained from the addition of different sizes. Between plots of 600, 1000, to 1500 square meters. Each harvest every three months produces 3 tons per 1000 square meters with size 30 or popularly size 30 according to industry standards. Faturokhim's shrimp yields are sold directly to large factories in the Jakarta and Pasuruan areas, not to ordinary consumers in the local market. Interestingly, this shrimp business activity has been carried out since entering college in 2018.

Faturokhim revealed that besides his soul as a shrimp farmer, he also has a social mission to empower the surrounding community.

Faturokhim revealed that besides his soul as a shrimp farmer, he also has a social mission to empower the surrounding community. community empowerment is intended firstly to create jobs, secondly to establish group-based modern community ponds. How smart is the shrimp business? Faturahim said this was related to the shrimp professional class of the UMM Aquaculture Study Program. When he entered the shrimp professional class, he received practice and knowledge about water quality management and feed management. These two matkul are very useful for vannamei shrimp breeders like himself.

Among them are feed nutrition courses, plankton, principally courses on cultivation are all entered to be implemented in his vannamei shrimp business. Meanwhile, the other courses serve as support only. Even though currently Faturokhim is successful in the vannamei shrimp business, he cannot be separated from the role of the UMM Aquaculture Study Program. Even now, he is still consulting with a number of lecturers to develop his shrimp business.

The UMM integrated laboratory in particular really helped Faturokhim by occasionally sending water to his alma mater lab. In addition to complete and credible facilities, the teaching lecturers are also communicative and competent. "I am most impressed that this shrimp professional class is very prospective in leading its students to become successful in the shrimp business, with six employees instead of only two people before," said the owner of CV Mitra Lestari Trenggalek.
