The head and secretary department of 2014-2018 were dominated by the youngest which became positive thing for governance regeneration. It was the same in Fishery Department which is now was led by Riza Rahman Hakim, S.Pi, M.S. The young lecturer who just finished his master in Aquaculture on Kasetsart University, Thailand is directly trusted to become the new captain in Fishery Dept. The achievement by the new Head Dept is quite encouraging included the master scholarship from Dikti and thesis research scholarship from Kasetsart University. Besides, he was also able to finish his master study in less than 2 years (1 year 10 months). The topic of study for his research was also interesting about the use of castor oil seed (Jatropha curcas) for fish feed. The idea was emerged because all this time, castor oil seed has been known to have high oil content but the seed which the result of oil extraction process is still not utilized properly.

When studying in Thailand, Riza Rahman also actively joined Indonesian students’ organization called PERMITHA (Indonesian Students Association in Thailand). He also became one of the organizers in Human Source (SDM) section for 2012 – 2013 periods. According to him, being active in organization is the medium to polish soft skill in leadership, and also to build net working. He did it since in college. Now, as the new captain in UMM Fishery Dept which owned Aquaculture study program can compete with the similar program in the state universities. Together with the ‘A’ accreditation and building the new laboratory, also the increasing of students, it can be an asset in order to make Fishery Dept as one of the superior and competitive department. Certainly it can be achieved with the support from all academics in departments, faculty and university. (rh)
