Brigadier General TNI Raden Edi Setiawan, SH, Air Defense Artillery Training Center (Pusdik) (Arhanud), explained that students at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) need to understand that even though they actively follow developments in science and technology, it is also important for them to increase their sense of nationalism. . In his speech at the opening of National Defense Education, he emphasized the need for activities like this as a form of love for the country.

"State defense activities, such as those held by FPP UMM, can form discipline and perseverance in you. I am sure, with enthusiasm and dedication, you can become individuals who are not only beneficial to yourself, but also to society at large," he said.

Prof. Dr. Syamsul Arifin, MSi, Deputy Chancellor I of UMM, assessed that state defense activities could train UMM students' discipline. This will form an attitude of perseverance and good management in facing challenges. According to him, this kind of activity could be a new model for increasing nationalism and is equivalent to the Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKN) course.



Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (FPP) UMM, Dr. Ir. Aris Winaya, MM, MSi, reminded that the digital era has positive and negative impacts, including the influx of foreign cultures which can erode nationalism. He advised FPP students not only to focus on technological developments, but also to maintain Indonesian values ​​and culture.

"Apart from cultivating the spirit of nationalism, as UMM students, you also need to show morals in all aspects of life, not only to close friends, but also to society at large," he concluded.
